Today, I am sharing my solution to the biggest frustration I have with Medium. Medium, as we all know, is a very beautiful platform. It is simplistic, elegant, and user-friendly. However, there is just one thing missing, a dark theme.

As much as I love reading articles on Medium, I just couldn’t stay on Medium for a long period of time, especially during the night. This is because the white background of the article together with a reflective laptop screen makes reading an article on Medium a pain. Moreover, there isn’t an official dark theme for Medium as far as I can tell.

And then I came across this Chrome extension — Dark Reader

What this extension essentially does is inverting the page color to a dark theme which is more relaxing to our eyes.

The shortcut key to activate the dark reader is Alt+Shift+D, (Command + Shift + D if you are on a Mac). It also works for any website and has various adjustment settings for the user to fiddle around.

So that’s it! A dark theme for Medium which is extremely simple to use.
